Joining The Ichthus as a staff writer is easy and fun! We, like many other publications at Harvard, run a straightforward “Comp” process.
THE COMP
The comp is a two-week process that takes place at the beginning of each semester. Compers of The Ichthus will be responsible for at least the following:
- Attend five meetings (or schedule make-up meetings with the editors)
- Write one entry for The Fish Tank
- Write one opinion-length article; business compers complete a project of equivalent difficulty
AFTER THE COMP
Staff writers on The Ichthus will be responsible for at least the following each semester during which they are an active Ichthus staffer:
- Contribute at least one story per issue of the print journal
- Contribute at least one entry to The Fish Tank every other week.
- Sell two subscriptions to the journal or one advertisement for the journal.
EDITORS
Editors of The Ichthus will be responsible for at least the following each semester during which they are an active Ichthus staffer:
- Editing respecting section
- One project, as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor
- Contribute at least one story per issue of the print journal
- Contribute at least one entry to The Fish Tank every week (relaxed at finals period, etc.).
- Sell two subscriptions to the journal or one advertisement for the journal.
